A bunker in the management building
27 October 2020
Conservationists made an interesting discovery in the management building. They came across a bunker, most likely built by the Germans during World War II, the existence of which until now was little known.
A few years ago (2014), in connection with the planned revitalization of the Old Slaughterhouse, another bunker, the so-called Einmannbunker, was moved from its grounds and placed on the Citadel, where it can be seen as part of the open-air exhibition of the Armament Museum. The Einmannbunker is a small reinforced concrete structure also covered by a reinforced concrete, thick, conical roof – for this reason it was nicknamed “pencil” during the war.
