Sustainable construction

19 April 2024

The area of Stara Rzeźnia undergoing revitalization was previously entirely covered in concrete, with virtually no greenery and no water retention system. Now, that is changing, about 30% of the area will be biologically active, and all rainwater will be managed on-site.

The urban concept integrates modern architectural solutions with the historical character of the site. The revitalization work is carried out with respect to both the historical structures and the future residents and users—as well as the environment.
We take sustainability seriously and refuse to cut corners. The effort required to complete this project is much greater than it might seem at first glance. Our approach mirrors that of the original builders over 125 years ago: they used such durable materials that we can still benefit from them today, which has a significant ecological impact. We are incorporating materials from demolitions, reusing excavated sand, and even repurposing structural steel that has retained its properties, as confirmed by specialized tests. The complete replacement of the roof structure and the creation of a new attic allowed us to implement thermal insulation, significantly improving the building’s energy efficiency. All these efforts help reduce the project’s carbon footprint. We carefully protect existing trees and plan additional plantings to enhance greenery in the area.
