The staircase regains its former glory

In the first of the buildings being restored in Stara Rzeźnia, a particularly striking feature is the beautifully renovated staircase. The balusters have been faithfully recreated based on the preserved, though time-worn, originals.
Just like the entire complex, this detail has come into full circle in history: experts conducting the revitalization identified no fewer than a dozen (!) layers of oil paint covering these wooden masterpieces. They breathed a sigh of relief upon discovering that the original color was exactly the one now visible in the photo—and the one everyone found most appealing: pigeon gray.
According to psychologists, this color reflects calmness, harmony, and subtlety, encouraging relaxation. And you must admit, there’s something to that when you look at the classic beauty of this over-a-century-old staircase.
